Welcome
3Di Productions – Ethos and Philosophy
Greetings from the Gameteam (GT) at 3Di Productions.
We aim to provide engaging games, catering for a mix of playing styles. We do tend towards the mystery/puzzle solving adventure genre, but welcome the more political element that some players might wish to bring.
With SevenSkies, our current game, the individual games should be seen as self contained 'Episodes' within a 'Season'. So each event will be a standalone, but there will be repeated and ongoing themes linking each event.
In addition to the plots set by the GT, the creation and development of personal plot is encouraged. If you want to start a plotline, or require assistance in developing your plotline, talk to us!
The rules for the game are set fairly simply, to allow better roleplay rather than having to constantly refer to the rule book as a reminder of abilities.
What the skills represent is the realisation of an ability specific (to a particular style of character). Some skills where they've not been realised in the rule book are considered skills that most players will actually have both in real life and in game. The ability to read and write is a good example of this.
Some skills that players might expect to find in the rule book are also covered by this philosophy, the example of 'Disarm Trap' will be used. The GT anticipate that should you discover a trapped item in game, anyone is welcome to attempt to disarm it – there is no skill requirement for this, just have a go! If you manage to complete this, well done! If the trap goes off.. well.. you tried!
If you have any rules queries, or suggestions for new rules – talk to a member of the GT, but please keep the above concepts in mind. We don't want to provide rules, just for rules' sake.
We run live roleplay games as a hobby, we are a non-profit making organisation.
Any events that do create a profit above the costs of venue, props, and food have the profit cash used as costs towards the next event, or on new props for the game in general. The gameteam do not take any financial benefit from running the system.
We also have an attitude of 'WYSIWYG' – What You See Is What You Get. We try and make props that can be trapped, or lock, or actually do what they're supposed to do.
Some effects naturally would either be impossible, or cost prohibitive to achieve, but in these cases try at least try and keep the 'feel' of what is supposed to happen. A switch on a machine might not actually work, but we know what's it effect will be! Your own props should meet similar standards. Make it look good, and make it at least appear to work!
Ultimately, we're about having fun! But we rely on your feedback to ensure that. If you think something works, or doesn't work.. tell us! We can't try and fix things if we don't realise there's an issue.
Over the course of a weekend's game we may have to deal with 40-50 separate people, a similar number of characters, run the game and try and make sure things like meals are served on time, so we may not always realise there's a problem until it's too late! Above all.. enjoy the adventure!
